Capercaillie
Chris Upson

Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus)

As there are only 300-400 male birds left in Scotland i have put this stunning male in the British Rarities Category.Poor breeding due to the wet springs and summers have not helped their chicks survive their first few weeks of life.
Just hope they do better this year !

A beautiful, well-composed image. It is a great pity that this impressive species is once again in decline. Hopefully they will do better this breeding season.
