Well, that bear is definitely big, so the place is well named. But even with a telephoto lens - how did you get so close (and live to tell post the pics)?

Thanks, all. I live in the National Forrest and it is not unusual to have bears around the house at all. A couple of years ago we had one that loved to come and sit in our little fishpond for a half hour at a time every afternoon or so. We have a neighbor who hands feeds them. Which is just stupid. Like they say a fed bear is a dead bear. It's nice having them around except when they turn over the trash cans and strew trash all over the street!
