It's a very shy and secretive birds of reed beds, so I feel will need specialist handling to help it recover. If it is still alive in the morning, I'd try and contact a wildlife rescue organisation.
 
Want to thank everyone again .
Water rail is alive and well and in a reserve in the new forest .
The rescue centre said they had to release it immediately the other day.
Need to point out that this forum was the only one that gave me any useful information or advice .
It took me along time and hrs of searching to find you.
You need to make your presence know more thank you again
