Jedi Hummers
I took this during Spring migration this year. The smaller Rufous Hummingbird on the left had been defending "his" feeder all afternoon. I was just about ready to leave when the slightly larger Black-chinned Hummingbird came in to feed. The Rufous immediately went out to meet him to discourage him from going to the feeder. The Black-chinned quickly backed away and found another feeder further away to refuel at.
The caption is courtesy of Hans - when he saw the photo his remark was they looked like Star War Jedi Knights.
Habitat
Black-chinned is found throughout much of the western United States, Rufous is more of a northwestern bird in the summer, migrating through the southwest from and to its wintering grounds in South America.

Feeding Station, Patagonia, Arizona, USA

April 6, 2007
