I noticed the eye as soon as this picture downloaded. I will certainly have a closer look at the woodies in my area. If any have 'odd' eyes, like the one above, I will let you know.

Isn't it wonderful how the most ordinary birds look fantastic close up. There is always something new to see. Look how the beak changes colour, for instance.
