Hi Frosty, as for I-D, i think it's a juv siskin, (carduelis-spinus) the beak being longer and thinner, + the streaked plumage matches, better than Greenfinch, as i first thought.

Agree juvenile Greenfinch. The bill's not fine and pointy enough for a Siskin's and the pink colour settles it.
 
Thanks for all your replies - it was back again today and turned around to show its golden tail feathers - so it must be a Juv Goldfinch!

I see this as a juvenile goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis), in particular because of the more pointed beak. Greenfinches have stout conical beaks.
