Corncrake

I heard this Corncrake call from a Field first day I was in Uist, I only had to wait 10 minutes for it to appear in the open, I thought this is easy, but no I spent another 7 days without seeing one despite hearing them at close quarters every day.

Terrific JT, I spent a week on Islay and could hear them every day, I never saw one!! well done.

Nice one jim. I was probably there a week before you and the vegetation was low, so i got lots of head views, tho only one or two chances at the whole bird.

What a fantastic shot of this secretive bird. I would love to see one, let alone photograph one. For some reason, when I have seen film of them calling, they remind me of Muppets, with the top of their head going up and down while the lower bill stays still. Top shot Jim.

:eek!: :eek!: You jolly lucky chappie, Jim, I've never even heard one... I was starting to thing Corncrakes are just a myth!!! :-O Fortunately you've proved wonderfully they are real!!! o:) Supreme portrait!!!

Nice one. I'm still in the 'heard but not seen' camp. Probably will be for some time to come...!
