enjoying the catkins. (parus caeruleus)

hi hope your all doing great.my son is moving round the corner from me so helping him just now move.one of our gorgeous bluetits today enjoying natures food.noticed these guys at my nestbox today, they nested in it and successfully fledged 5 young a delight to watch in 2013 but a juvenile sparrowhawk appeared at the beginning of 2014,it is still around a male in full plummage now he is and i presume these bluetits visiting my garden know he is around.in my mind they are safe in the nestbox from this predator but they cannot leave or enter when young are born to feed them which they do often if this male sparrowhawk is around.will let you know if the bluetits in their mind decide to use my nestbox again and if they do in my mind i will be letting my dogs out for the toilet more often as i do not like chasing this little hawk myself but when he sees the dogs going out he moves along.its quite a dilemma for me as i think nature is nature and i love all birds and wish this little hawk would eat the mice around here which he seems to enjoy and leave the birds alone.a long story again.

It's always a tough call Mags. You're not alone in your thinking.'

Meanwhile, this is one lovely image of this Blue Tit and hopefully a parent to be ;)

Great pose, perch, and details. Big sky with beautiful colors. Nicely done Margaret :t:

A real dilemma for you Mags, I remember when we lived in England, we had so many song birds coming to the feeders but the sparrowhawks lived near full time in the garden and I felt that it was like setting the dinner table for them! Wonderful capture today.

What tales you do have to tell Margaret LOL!! let's hope your dogs teach your sprawk to behave properly in your garden and the blueys get a chance to rear their young in peace.

A super picture this - well done lass. ... though not so well done in getting lost the other day!! Silly girl!

Outstanding pictue of this Blue Tit foraging Margaret. I have always liked accipiters, as long as they are not in my yard feeding on the birds I am trying to attract (lol). Sometimes we just can't have it both ways, though it would be nice! Excellent work Margaret!!!!

Superb shot of this bt feeding, Margaret!! tfs. Well we can't control nature, can we now & the fittest will prevail.

Lovely wee Bluey capture Mags...You need to teach that Sprawk how to catch your mice like Chris has, LOL. I think maybe it won't come down for the mice because it knows your dogs are there? Whatever the outcome will be, it will be what nature intends lass.
