Eurasian Spoonbill
Rare in Sri Lanka with only 545 wintering birds. A non breeding adult showing all white plumage and yellow "spoon." Lacks crest and yellow neck markings of breeding plumage. Immatures have a pale bill and black wing-tips. A year round nomadic resident in Sri Lanka, this is the nominate race. Two other subspecies are smaller with one having an all black bill. Formerly lumped with the Royal Spoonbill of Australia.
