First Chch lifer
Next morning, after a quick stop to make a minor repair to my rental car (I might say more about that later, we'll see), I drove into the center of town and found parking alongside Hagley Park. The first bird I spotted as I walked into the park was another NZ endemic, and thus necessarily a lifer for me, although it did take me a few minutes to work out whether I'd seen this species before or not -- so familiar-looking, and yet ... not quite.
