Flight of the Chickadee (Parus atricapillus)

Black-capped Chickadee in flight.
The sun has came out for a few hours so I continued my winter project. Of course, I completely messed up the exposure and was already on ISO 800. I pulled back a stop in RAW processing but therefore is the equivalent of ISO 1600 - a lot of noise but still liked the image. Minor crop to 4:3.

Wow, that must be difficult to get! Flight shots of big birds are difficult but small birds seem impossible for me. I wish I could take a picture like this! :( Love all the feathers in the wing and that pale blue backgroound. Lovely!

Very impressive Winter Project you have, Mark! It looks just stunning in this way. Thanks of sharing these little wonder moments that eye wont normally see.. :)

Now you are just plain showing off!! lol but then again I see you are using the 400mm f5.6L so a pic like this becomes much more attainable. That said top marks for your efforts!

noise what noise must be my old monitor but looks a very nice capture, the shot is first rate

I'm very much impressed again. You are probably one of the very few, who is capable of capturing small birds in flight. Great shot, Mark.
