Gull-billed Tern (Gelochelidon nilotica aranea) Six subspecies are recognized with only subspecies aranea being mapped for Texas. Sexes similar. Very sharp image! He's clearly aware of you, but doesn't seem frightened. Do they have similar eating habits to gulls, including picking up humans' garbage? If so, that might explain why he's so unafraid.
