Male/female Giant Swallowtail pair, with the male in "Hot Pursuit. The male will follow the female incessantly from flower to flower. As she feeds, he will flutter in place near her. f/9, 1/1000th, ISO 1250. Canon 1D Mark III, 300mm f/2.8 lens with a 1.4x tele & flash. Monopod for support.

:eek!: Mind-boggling image, Howard, and captivating at the same time!!! o:) To get a Butterfly in flight is awfully difficult but to do it is this elegant way, so neatly done, and so brilliantly composed deserves a very loud standing :clap:!!! ;) The view from below is a marvel too!!! :t: :t: :loveme:

I have been trying with little success to capture a butterfly in flight so I appreciate how difficult it is ! Thanks for sharing the technical details. What type of lens were you using ?
