Jamaican Mango
Jamaican Mango (Anthracothroax mango) Rockland's Bird Sanctuary, State of Cornwall, St. James Parish, Jamaica, Village of Anchovy, ca. 4 miles SW of Montego Bay. Jamaican endemic. Sexes similar
Habitat
Feeders: dry limestone forest with ornamental plantings, ca. 275 m elevation.
Location
Rockland's Bird Santuary, Village of Anchovy, Jamaica
Date taken
November 2010
Scientific name
Anthracothorax mango
Equipment used
Canon EOS 7D, Canon lens: 300mm f/4L IS USM, ISO 200, Shutter 1/250 with flash, f/4
The flash brings colors this bird didn't know it had! I usually try to take both a flash and natural light version. Even though not "accurate" in the sense of what the eye will see, I often prefer the flash version. Irridescence in plumage is one of the most amazing things about birds, especially the hummers, and the flash brings it out.

It looks like you cleaned up in Jamaica. It almost motivates me to return. My only visit there did not leave a good impression.
