Jay - just hidden a monkey nut

Jay - just hidden a monkey nut (Garrulus glandarius)

Quite dull in the shade, but you can still see the Jay looking a bit furtive. The Monkey Nut is hidden in amongst the leaves... unfortunately for the Jay, one of the Squirrels was watching and nicked the nut later ;)

Through the double glazing as usual

A superb behavioural shot of this Jay stashing his monkey nut for another day, Chris !!! Thanks for sharing. You could be right about the jackdaws putting the Jay off from coming into my garden. I counted 5 yesterday.

Well picked out amongst the foliage...Nice eyeball on this un Chris.

LOL Chris... that'll teach him won't it!

I just love this image and the way you've really focused on his eye through the leaves.

Well done lad.

I guess the mortality rate on stashed nuts must be very high!! Typical Jay behaviour at this time of year, furtive an apt description of the birds expression. Great post Chris & tfs.

A neat image, Chris! I like the way that my eye immediately focused on nothing but the Jay's eye.
