long-eared owl
Juvenile bird which was present with both parents and 1/2 other juveniles. They had nested in a small group of trees which were surrounded by lake/marsh/steppe - and no other trees miles. Later inspection of 10 pellets found under the nest revealed the remains of at least 9 mice, 15 voles, and 6 birds of various species. And they weren't too shy either...!
