Mountain Hare ( Lepus timidus ) (Lepus timidus)

Photographed this in 2010. A light wind was wisping up the top layer of snow around the Hare on the mountains.
Habitat
Mountain
Location
Glenshee
Date taken
2010
Scientific name
Lepus timidus
Equipment used
Nikon D300 and Nikon 500 f4
Lovely photo - the colour palette is perfect and it seems a bit like Vincent Munier I think.
The only way it could get better would be a slightly wider crop - panoramic perhaps? Not to show the environment but to give the hare more room to breathe. It works well like this as well tho, I guess it's a matter of personal preference.

Thanks for the comments. I have a few others of mountain hare and liked this crop but as you say other crops are nice as well. I like the one on page 2 of my flickr site which i think conveys the lonely life these creatures need to endure--see here- http://www.flickr.com/photos/markyboy1967/page2/

o:) WOW, a "ghosty-like" character in the white environment... and perfectly camouflagged, well spotted!!! ;) Swell picture, loads of thanks for sharing!!! :t: :t:

Thanks for posting this---a species I never seen! It's good to have spread out the biodiversity, so BF is a databank for different species! Nice image! Ann

Beautiful, absolutely stunning! Fantastic wintery scene with snow blanketing everything and in the middle of it you have this marvelous mammal that that blends in perfectly and is quite content! I love the way his eye stands out! Superb!!!
