Mr grumpy (Recurvirostra avosetta)

after constant harassment by the avocet , the (juvenile) shelduck finally had enough and fought back. Muscle vs elegance but a few minutes later the avocet was back for more aggro.

LOL Max.... you really saw some action there didn't you. A brave youngster taking on that Avocet.

I've never seen it, but I understand that Avocets can be really feisty when they have young.

I do wish I'd thought of your comment on my 'bairns' picture before, I might have hung on to it for SF LOL. However, a couple of eagle-eyed members saw the 4th one... now I know it's there, it's quite obvious... ooops.
