Hi Peeps,
Not a lot going on here, overcast and cold out there this morning. After my hospital trip yesterday, I thought Id walk back home along the prom path. As I was walking I could see this small wader cross the path in front of me, and started to forage underneath the picnic tables on the grass. On closer inspection, I couldnt make out what it was. It was Turnstone size, and shape, beak/bill same as Turnies, but a greyish colour, as were its legs. Its body markings and colour were similar to that of a Dunlin in winter plumage, darker than Sanderling. Got home, grabbed me rig, and hiked off back, only to find no sign of it. Walked over and had a look around the Harbour Arm, and amongst the Turnies feeding on the beach, but still no sign of it. Got back and studied half a dozen bird books but couldnt find anything that looked remotely like it. Havent been to the pub for a couple of days, so I cant put it down to alcohol, still very puzzled. Anyways, three from our last trip to Gigrin June 2009 today, really could use another Gigrin fix.
