Redstart
A redstart can be found in many of Europe's gardens, but is not that easy to see, as it spends most time in bushes and shrubs. A female, like this one, is very discreetly coloured, while the males eventually get a dark red breast, and black throat, and ditto chin, areas, and a grey head and back, while the tail is more or less identical for both sexes, and the juveniles.
Habitat
garden/bushes
Location
Ottenby Bird Station, Sweden.
Date taken
04/10/2016
Scientific name
Phoenicurus phoenicurus
Equipment used
Nikon 1 V2, Sigma 150-600 Sports.
Never been this close a redstart before, so I wasn't sure what bird it was, as the female differs drastically from the more colourful male.

As the light was good the Nikon 1 V2, together with the big Sigma 150-600 Sports, proved to be the perfect combination, as good lighting is necessary for good shots with a 1" sensor camera, or long exposures, which birds seldom allow you to use.

Processing the shot with the help of DxO Optics Pro 11 helps as well, by the way.
