Savannah Sparrow
The heavy dark breast streaks are characteristic of the "Belding's" race (P. s. beldingi) which is resident in coastal salt marshes in southern California. It has been a candidate for a split and is listed as "endangered" by the state due to loss of habitat; down by 75% due mostly to development. The only member of the genus "Passerculus"; the name "sandwichensis" refers to Sandwich Sound, Alaska, not to Hawaii.
