Australian Pelican in Monkey Mia, Australia (Pelecanus conspicillatus)

Even though this is a wild bird, it hangs out around the visitor's center at Monkey Mia, Western Australia. The day I was there, this bird was playing with the sprinkler set on a pitifully tiny patch of grass, then squatted down for a rest.
Habitat
Desert on protected bay
Location
Monkey Mia, Shark Bay, Western Australia
Scientific name
Pelecanus conspicillatus
Equipment used
Canon EOS 1-N, 70-200mm, Fujichrome
A stunning shot Katy, I love the way you have presented the Pelican, beautifully composed.

Thanks so much, Kim and Deanne! In looking at it here, I think I need to bump up the exposure level just a titch -- seems a little dark to my eye. It's hard to see the water droplets that were beading up on his feathers. Think I'll just go do that right now! :)
