Taken at the Don Castro Regional Recreation Area.
Specifically, this is a member of the Oregon subspecies.
This is Part 2 of a two part series showing the salvaging of a bad photo into a useful one. This is salvaged one, the original one is [URL=

So what did I do?
--Adjusted the exposure and histogram of the JPEG file from the camera using the Adobe Photoshop RAW plugin.
--Sized the photo to the 1024x900 requirements for the BirdForum galleries (resize to 50% then cropped, in this case).
--Used Topaz Labs Clarity plugin for Photoshop to adjust the sharpness and to some degree the color balance, using the Fur & Feathers II preset.
--Used Topaz Labs DeNoise plugin for Photoshop to get rid of some of the low light noise. This was a balance between making the noise less grating and distracting (there was quite a bit) and not losing what detail I managed to capture.
IN THE END, this isn't my best salvage/rescue job. Normally I'd consider this one not worth it, but since it was a species new to me, I gave it a go. And a few others wanted to see what I was doing to "rescue" photos like this.
