Talha-mar (Rynchops niger)

Mede cerca de 50 cm de comprimento. A plumagem geral do talha-mar é preta nas costas até a coroa e a parte externa das asas. Branco na parte inferior e parte interna das asas. A faixa frontal entre o bico e a coroa é branca. O bico grande e comprimido lateralmente apresenta a coloração laranja avermelhado na base e preto na ponta. A mandíbula inferior é flexível e significativamente mais longa do que a maxila.
