Zenaida Dove
Resembling the more familiar Mourning Dove, but stockier with a much shorter tail and white secondary tips. The bright colors suggest a male. The white margins to the dark wing spots are a feature of the nominate race from the Lesser Antilles. Named by C. L. Bonaparte in honor of his wife and cousin Zénaïde, its name is slated for change by the AOS along with all eponymous names honoring people. A notable exception to the rule that only possessive names (with apostrophes) will change. However the name of the genus will stay.
