What to look for in a begining Telescope? (1 Viewer)

Another question. Paul mentioned that the Celestron 80/600mm ED was the same scope as the above Skywatcher. It is available at clearance prices at present but come with 1.25 inch eyepieces. Do you know if this scope can use 2 inch eyepieces or whether the design prevents this. a link to one example is here

Another question. Is there a third party set of accesories which will allow a Nikon ED2A fieldscope to be set up with a Nikon D90 as these astro scopes are set up? I know Nikon do an expensive adaptor but one couldnt add Barlow lens etc for this, just use teleconvertors.

the focus rack is 2" and has a reducer to accommodate the 1.25 inch diagonal and eyepieces,, the reducer, diagonal and eyepiece holder would be removed and the 2" T-mount would slide into the focus tube,,

Hi Richard,

Sorry, no substitute for the Nikon FSA-L1 adapter. You really don't want one either as the adapter allows the D90 to shoot in Aperture Priority mode with full control over metering and exposure compensation. When you shoot through other combos of fieldscopes or telescopes, you can only shoot Manual.

I tried Nikons adaptor but the image is so small that I couldnt get reliable focus and the adaptor stuck out at 45 degrees for 8" with a heavy camera at the end. Didn't feel stable.
Decided to go and get a Skywatcher and see what I can do with that.
