Assumed Greenfinch (Nov 2012) but why the very yellow back? It does't seem to match in any of my reference books.

It probably is Eur. Greenfinch. The amount of light probably accounts for the brightness of the rump / up.t.c. The wings look a bit long for Eur. Greenfinch (angle of bird?) and the bill looks 'wrong'. Avicultural hybrid?

it's a greenfinch, a female does have a yellower rump, but it can be surprising the first time you notice it. The wing length is also correct.
