Birdsong Kenfig, Wales (1 Viewer)

Hi All,

Could someone please help me identify the bird in the attached mp3 file? I recorded it yesterday in Kenfig, Wales, UK.

Tricky with such a short clip, but perhaps Ringed Plover

It was repeating this every so often, and nothing else (at least that's what I thought at the time). It was difficult to determine where it came from. Next time, if I hear it again I will try to make a longer recording (and try to find it!).

Could it be a thrush that is repeating a persistent theme - I´d suggest Song Thrush.

I should have explained why. I was there yesterday morning and I’m pretty sure I heard the same bird. I thought what the hell is that? It seemed to be coming from a blackbird. After those strange notes it went more blackbirdy if that makes sense?

It was in the evening, around 19:22 to be precise ;-) If you search in google maps for 51.514181 -3.734610 you can see where I was standing when I made the recording. I have also attached the complete recording (you can hear the zooming of the camera, while I was trying to find it). The song starts at around 18 seconds.

Cheers Paul. That’s near enough exactly where I heard it. I was thinking at the time I wish I knew how to record it on my phone as it was so weird. :-O

There is a Blackbird on the longer recording, yes, so could be ... but I've never heard such a phrase before. Still, could be.
