The 8X seems to be leading in the polling. I can get the Noctivid 8X42 on clearance for $2,500 CAD. The NL Pure 8X42 is $3629 CAD. That's gonna be a factor too.

I would choose the NV over the NL on image quality alone unless you really need that very wide field, and you won't have to worry about armour etc.

I agree completely..... but then I also wouldn't swap my HT for a Noctovid... genuinely would not...
And HT's are around the 1k mark.
I just wouldn't be happy taking a 3k bino on a dusty safari (but that's my problem) :ROFLMAO:

But NV or NL ..... Leica NV all day long for me.... all round quality instrument.

The HT is my next favourite 8x42 funnily enough: sharp, bright, 3D, 'transparent', great focuser. Nicer image than the SF I think but then I'm not too bothered about huge FOV. My only gripes are slightly messy edges and it's lacking some red/warmth compared to the NV.

Would like a good long look through the Nikon EDG as well.

I had a 10x42 Noctivid for a week… it was excellent and build quality was incredible. It had beautiful colours but you didn’t get enough FOV…I have 10x40 Habicht and I just as well use that (despite slower focus) as I don’t wear specs.

Also, I decided to work with 8’s and a 12 with the Habicht in the middle.

NL 8x42 for me and I’d take that on a Safari, can always rinse it in a watering hole?!

I really like the Habicht too in fact my preference is for Porros as there is something special about the image from the simple optical design I think. But I need ER for glasses and the focuser would get on my nerves e.g. following birds in flight.
