    Sporters Finally Sold Out

The infamous 8x36 Nikon Sporters at the Warehouse Express price of £99 have finally sold out. Just thought I'd mention it as they get mentioned so much on BF as a decent pair of cheap bins.

    Steiner bins? Newbie

I tried the SkyHawks out at the Bird Fair... seeing as they were new and there, why not... and they gave you a free hat. Overall I was impressed, they were perhaps a little heavy but they came with a nice comfy strap. Optically I found pretty them good for the price range, they were...

    Egyptian Geese

I know these were introduced into the UK and therefore aren't "wild" in the true sense but are they on the UK list? I saw a pair at Anglers Country Park in West Yorkshire on Sunday (reasonably far from their Norfolk stronghold) and am not sure what sort of "tick" to give them.

    Spanish Birds

I went birding in Spain this year just armed with my Collins guide but had a good trawl around the Internet before I went to find a bit of local knowledge. I came up with quite a few places to explore which indeed produced quite a few new ticks when I got there... so give Google a good going...

    Blogspot editing buttons

There's a note in the Blogger help file... click here Are you looking in Netscape rather than IE? That could be the problem as IE is the only browser that officially works (although it's fine in Firefox). Or it could be something such as Javascript has managed to get turned off in the...

    Blogspot editing buttons

Just logged into mine, no problems at all. The editing buttons are usually the last bit to load... your ISP could be a bit slow today so it's timing out before loading perhaps.

    importing a scope

Lots if lovely info here I've looked into this kind of thing before and by the time you've paid your duty you don't save much.

    Siemens SF65 for Phonescoping?

I was planning to get the Sony K750i for the very same use which has a 2 megapixel camera (which actually has a lens cover for once) and also has a 4x zoom. More info at the sony site. Trouble is there is so little info on phonescoping (yet) it does tend to be trial and error with these...

    New Garden Visitor

We had a Great Spot lurking for a week or 2, and now there are a pair who visit us 2 or 3 times a day!!! I make sure the nut feeder is kept topped up and since the first visit a couple of weeks ago a day hasn't gone by without a visit... so as previous posts have said, I'm sure he'll be back...

    Dogwalkers and Birding.

I concur with florall there, you can't lump every dog owner together. I regularly walk my dog in a variety of places... but I clean up after him, I keep him on the lead when appropriate and consider myself a very responsible owner. I get as annoyed as the next man, birder or non birder, about...

    Poll:which binocular do you prefer?

You did indeed... and I'm an idiot :) Comes of scanning posts when I should be working and not reading properly... deleted my post and off to stand in a corner facing the wall ;)

    SLC magnification

I think the trouble is I sway between 8x and 10x and dropping to 7x just feels "too far" but it's purely instinct, I've never really tried 7x properly. Well yes, I see your point, but again, I feel 32 is already the "minimum" and even dropping that extra little bit feels, on paper, it's just...
