    A few targets in Valencia/Murcia?

Thank you! Plenty of other targets! I’m not sure if early June is the right time, but anywhere shearwaters might be viewable from the shore? I’d also be keen for suggestions in the vicinity for Bonelli’s Eagle, Eagle Owl, Wryneck, Lesser Short-toed Lark, Dupont’s Lark (is that possible...

    A few targets in Valencia/Murcia?

Amazing thank you! What do you mean by day causing area? And which exactly is the lighthouse road? I’m not sure from looking at the map. Thank you!

    A few targets in Valencia/Murcia?

Hi all, I'm travelling to Valencia in early June and am designing a solo trip around Eastern Spain to pick up some much-wanted European species. (Incidentally, happy to link up if anyone wants to join). There are a few species I'm unsure on, and wondered if anyone could recommend sites for the...

    Caspian, Yellow-legged Gulls? Sussex, England

Hello all, I spent some time today at the gull roost at Cuckmere Haven, East Sussex. I was hoping to pick out Yellow-legged and possibly Caspian gulls for my year list. Three Caspian were reported among the roost while I was there, by someone else. I’m not great at gulls so stuck to adults...

    South Mexico, late February 2025

Hi all, I'm visiting a friend in Mexico in February (I'll be in the country 14 Feb-1 March) and would like to spend a fair amount of time birding with a guide. I haven't settled on a fixed location, but Oaxaca is looking appealing. I would struggle to afford the guide fee on my own, so if...

    Birding lodge in Southern Mexico?

Hello all, I’m planning a trip to Mexico to visit a friend in Mexico City, and hope to fit in a fair bit of birding. I can’t afford to hire a guide for the full two weeks, but something I have really enjoyed on previous trips is to stay a few nights at a birding lodge, the kind of place with...

Black Grouse, Osprey, Ring Ouzel, Wood Warbler in North Yorks/Northumberland?

An update: I saw black grouse at Arkengarthdale! With a telescope, probably about 1km distance, so no disturbance, and absolutely delighted to find them. A pair of grey partridge at the same spot too. Thank you for the tip!

Black Grouse, Osprey, Ring Ouzel, Wood Warbler in North Yorks/Northumberland?

Fair enough! If disturbance is a big issue in the area, I'm happy to just leave them be, maybe hope to encounter the latter three on migration.

Black Grouse, Osprey, Ring Ouzel, Wood Warbler in North Yorks/Northumberland?

Hello all, I'm visiting North Yorkshire/Northumberland over the late May bank holiday and would really love to track down Black Grouse, Osprey and Ring Ouzel, none of which I've ever succeeded in seeing in the region. I wondered if anyone had any up-to-date tips for good spots? I've read that...

Intro to Sundaic birding - where to go?

Thank you for all these suggestions! Looking into it further, I think I'm quite keen to leave Malaysia for another time, and either stay in Java, or head to Gunung Kerinci or Way Kambas in Sumatra. If anyone has any suggestions for guides (or lodges with good guides attached) in either spot...

Intro to Sundaic birding - where to go?

Hello all, I am going to Jakarta with work in late March, and am planning to add on some leave for a 5-6 day birding trip somewhere in the region after meetings are done. I've been to Thailand several times, but I've never been to Indonesia before, and have only once been to Peninsular...

Advice wanted: birding southern Brazil and the Pantanal

Hi all, I’m planning a trip with two friends to Brazil in July. We’re all going to visit the Pantanal and Rio, but while they’re keen to see the big stuff, they’re not birders. Having never visited South America, I think I’d find it excruciating to just do general tours and miss hundreds of...

Advice on birding week in Panama, late November

Thank you much everyone for your tips and suggestions, really very helpful. I'm overdue getting started on my revision – if anyone has a suggestion for the best field guide (book) to be using in Panama, that would be much appreciated!

Advice on birding week in Panama, late November

Thank you so much (both of you) for these tips, that's really helpful. I'd be interested in looking at guiding for at least some of the time, so if you do have any info to share on that package deal, and guiding in Metropolitan Park, that would be really helpful!
