    Canon RF 200-800mm IS USM

Bully for you Mr.Moneybags, but I guess most people would choose to spend a $100,000 on a life!

    Mm4 50ed

I've had the MM2 for a good while and would like a worthwhile upgrade at the minimum cost. (Don't we all!). I have and will retain the decent fixed HDF eyepiece I have. The MM3 ED 60mm are hard to get hold of as they quickly stopped making them when the MM4 came out. Cost wise my options seem to...

    UK Hawfinch occurence last weekend....?

    Dippers near Blaenavon

Will be making a long trip from the flatlands of Essex to hopefully see the Rock Thrush. Are there any good streams near to there to see Dippers. Common for you, I know, but only a holiday bird for us!

    Ross-on-Wye suggestions

Thanks. In the end it was quite good considering it wasn't supposed to be a birding trip. In the end got Pied Fly from hide at Nagshead though a bit distant. Great views of Dipper in the stream that runs into Wye near Tintern, where the old iron and wire works were, by the pub, I think it was...

    Ross-on-Wye suggestions

Having a few days break sight seeing around Ross-on-Wye with missus. Hope to get out for a bit of birding. Are there any Dippers around this area? Also thinking of trying Nags Head reserve for Pied Flycatcher? These would be my preferred interest coming from lowland Essex but open to suggestions?

    Yorkshire Birding

Coming up from Essex for a couple of days to Bempton next week. Wondering if anywhere within say 30 mins of there we might also find Redstart, Pied Flycatcher, Dipper, maybe Golden Plover in breeding plumage. Basically birds we don't get to see down here. Ta, Dave

    Bridge Cameras out performing DSLRs?

One consideration not greatly mentioned here is video performance. The lack of quality is less obvious in moving images and Bridge's like the Panny DMC FZ200 can autofocus quite well and do a reasonable slo mo at a higher frame rate. Some advantages as well with extreme macro, more DOF and can...

Sigma 150-500 - Auto Focus Problem

Seems quite a common problem. Sent mine back and they said it was a faulty sensor. Been a new beast since then.

    Essex Birding

Rob - when you get pics like my Pentax + Siggy with your Siggy + Nikon , then that's the time to get a Nikon prime ;-) Dave

    Pentax Q and 2750 mm 35mm equiv !?

Have now got some great results with the Pentax DA*300mm and the Q adapter, painted on inside to stop internal reflections. Similar to the ones Crewl gets. Dave

    Bridge Cameras out performing DSLRs?

Bridge cameras are brilliant! But think of them as an alternative to a DSLR not instead of or better. They can't get the same BOKEH (sweet blurred backgrounds) and resolution of a modern DSLR. What they can do well is produce decent images from macro through to super telephoto in a small and...

    Pentax Q and 2750 mm 35mm equiv !?

I now have the Q and what an underrated little bit of kit it is. I easily made an adapter from a piece of plastic pipe with a UV filter glued in which screws on the front of the Q lens. This slots neatly over my MM2 eyepiece and makes digiscoping easy. Results not that special though, a lot of...

    Sunflower hearts sticking in feeder

------------------------------------------- It's funny you should say that. I bought a yellow RSPB niger seed feeder for my neighbour and she didn't get a single Goldfinch on it. Lent her my one and they appeared the next day. I've also tried the yellow one in my garden and they will never go on...
