Falcon ID - Lanzarote - Canary Islands

Sorry for the poor photos, this was taken with my iPhone yesterday. I suspect this is the local race of Kestrel, if somebody could please confirm. Thanks

Bird of Prey , Cheshire UK

That’s within 1.5 miles of my house. I will double check the next ‘buzzard’ riding the thermals.

I’m still edging towards a kite with this one. OP can I please ask where in the Crewe area this was spotted? I live in Crewe myself & have never seen a kite local.

    Honey Buzzard confirmation

Good afternoon, I was going through some old photos and came across the attached image. This was taken in Rhodes, Greece in 2011. Is this a European Honey Buzzard? Can it be sexed by this image? Many thanks, Ryan

    BOP ID, N. Sweden

It’s one of the Harrier species, I’m sure one of the experts will come along soon.

    BoP Cheshire

It was hopping from a large low branch and down to the floor and back up, it was also not phased being right next to the main road and footpath. It just give off the vibe of an escapee.

Bird spotted today in Cheshire. Is this just a Common Buzzard or a Red tailed hawk? It had no rings...etc but I see plenty of Buzzards around here and this didn't give off the same vibe.

    UK - Just a crow?

The bird was just back in the same spot and I was even closer. It looks more like a grackle than anything else! I am sure its only a crow though...

    UK - Just a crow?

Spotted this bird on my lawn this morning, I imagine it is just a young crow but it was very slender and leggy. Very striking looking bird. Am I missing anything? Sorry about the dreadful crops I only had my phone to hand.

Unknown bird, Staffordshire border - UK

Well thank you. I guess based on probability, size and colouring then Curlew would be the closest and most likely answer I would get. It was an odd bird to see flying accross the road that's for sure.

Unknown bird, Staffordshire border - UK

It was roughly 5:45pm and habitat wise it is mainly fields, slightly hilly with a few local small woodlands. The following link will take you to the exact location on google street view (it will give you a better idea.)...

Unknown bird, Staffordshire border - UK

Thank you for the suggestions, curlew, whimbrel, godwit & snipe all fit. Unfortunately I had no chance to take a picture (I was driving) and I guess I will never fully know as my wader identification is absolutely terrible.

Unknown bird, Staffordshire border - UK

Thanks Chris, they do both resemble the bird I saw very well. I didn't notice a curved bill at all but then the bird was roughly 30 foot above me.

Unknown bird, Staffordshire border - UK

It was 100% not a tern, the bill was dark, much longer and very fine. I probably over emphasized the gull like colours. The colouring was more like a juvenile gull with tinges of brown/grey.
