SFL 50mm Second Look - does first impressions really last?

I have not seen much of any CA in the 8x30 SFL, but I also have not yet used them under the most challenging conditions. That being said, of 8x50 SFL is indeed lower, that would speak well for them. I am not in a rush to try them but certainly would like to compare them to the Leica UVHD 8x50...

SFL 50mm Second Look - does first impressions really last?

Very impressive size comparison to the EL, wow. I have the 8x30 and 8x40 SFL, might need to complete the set!

    Broken Noctovid

These should probably be repaired under Warranty for defect in materials. The metal fracture surface has what looks to be a good sized void in it, which would weaken it greatly and could cause it to fail prematurely.

SFL 50mm Second Look - does first impressions really last?

I really like the SFL in both 8x40 and now 8x30. The (excellent) 8x40 has enough CA in challenging conditions already to be an annoyance, so it's disappointing to hear that the 50mm version will be even worse

Why is Zeiss SFL discounted for the month of April? Anyone purchasing one since it is a few dollars less than usual?

No discount on their 50's, they seem to be excluded. Birdwatching has a note that SFL is discounted $300 through April 30th. However, they do not have the 50mm on their site yet.

The 8x30 SFL is downright tiny, and the focuser is excellent. About $960 at CampSaver in the US.

Historical Review of Swift 804 Audubon Binoculars

Thanks to the fine authors of this research and contributors to this thread, I was able to identify and procure a nice late model 804. The views are lovely. Sharp, bright, contrasty and wide. What's not to like? And the focuser is smooth as silk. A real classic.

    Nikon M7

Kowa is your friend for Best in class CA control. The BDII is competitive with the M7 on price and should give you superior CA control. Stepping up to the Genesis line should all buy eliminate it.

Zeiss victory pocket model 8x25B*T vs. current 8x25 model

What type of lighting conditions are you using them in? In daylight I would expect the 8x20 and 10x25 Nikon to perform the same, that has been my experience. Roger Vine reviewed the 8x20 and wrote about how bright the view is it, it became his compact reference standard for many years until...

Zeiss victory pocket model 8x25B*T vs. current 8x25 model

Swarovski offers an 8x25, a double hinge design albeit not so very compact. It is the CL. https://www.swarovskioptik.com/us/en/hunting/products/binoculars/cl/cl-pocket/cl-pocket-8x25-ii. That said, why not try out the Nikon in 8x20? It is every bit as good as the 10x25 but in 8x.

    New Binocular Bargains Thread

Nice find. I wonder if these came into Sierra/TJX via a US dealer, and this would have the warranty due to proper distribution channel.

    New Binocular Bargains Thread

Nice to see this one is back in stock, zero regrets on buying one last time they were offered at this price via Greentoe. The 8x40 SFL is midsized 8x binocular nirvana in my book.

    New Binocular Bargains Thread

I do like the Nikon HG but at the same time, I never really bonded with it. The view is a little too cool and clinical compared to some other 8x options, and I also have some minor blackout issues with it. It's taken me awhile to come to peace with it as it's about perfect on paper, but I...
