    Entry/Test 8x32 binoculars

8x32s are notorious for blackout issues. I had the explorer and really enjoyed them! But I did have to learn how to use them in order to minimize the blackouts. The only 8x30 I’ve used that didn’t have this issue was the Nikon prostaff 7s (which has now been upgraded to the P7). The P7 8x30...

    Seeking recommendations/input…

From what I’ve researched on this, the answer is yes. Although when it comes to small fov, the 10x42 L and the 15x50 give good fov with good AFOV (immersive view). If you like astronomy, I would try the 15x50 canon. It’s now my all-rounder bino for day and night. I love being able to check out...

    Seeking recommendations/input…

I would see if you could get a used canon IS 10x42L or 15x50 IS. The 10x42 L is said to rival alphas. And the 15x50 is a great all-rounder for day and night

Is the 15x50 IS worth it if you already have a 12x36 IS?

Yep, it’s the only bino I use for daytime and nighttime. I used to have a 8x42 Vortex Viper and 15x70 Oberwerk Deluxe that split those duties. They were great but I always wanted an all-in-one bino that could do it all (and not be tied down to a tripod) So I sold them and eventually got the...

Is the 15x50 IS worth it if you already have a 12x36 IS?

For daytime i would say no. the 15x is slightly sharper but I believe the 12x36 is much more versatile for daytime. The IS is also slightly better on the 12x because of the mag difference. (Although the 15x has the 5 minute IS feature ) and I know the 15x50 is “weatherproof” and it does seem...

    16x and steady views. Sig Zulu6 16x42

How do the 16x42’s compare to the 15x50 at night? It seems the IS is better but I wonder how they do with the brightness of the stars (especially DSO). The only thing that keeps me from seriously considering it is the light gathering of the 15x50.

    The best binoculars

agreed, If it weren’t for the 42 objective lens, I would seriously consider them. I’m staying with the 15x50 for that reason, but Sig were to come out with A larger objective lens model (>=50), I would definitely try it out

    The best binoculars

Looks to be the case. From what I’ve seen, the IS on the 16x42 Zulu is slightly better than the 15x canon - and the eyecups on the Zulu seem to be much better! so I would say The Zulu’s are a safe bet. The only issue I see is that see is that they may be discontinued by the manufacturer - which...

    The best binoculars

I think the issue you will run into with the 18x is the image stablization. From what I’ve read, the 18 basically maxes out the IS, making it tough to keep the image steady while handholding. You mentioned you don’t know much about binoculars so here’s a brief breakdown of the shake issue: The...

    The best binoculars

It seems like the Zulu 16x42 is the best option - especially if it’s waterproof. I own the Canon 15x50 and while I enjoy the overall view - I wish it had better stabilization. In short, it takes out the shakes from the view, but the view still “sways” with your natural body movement as you hold...

buying advice needed: Opticron Traveller BGA ED vs Celestron Trailseeker ED 8x32 - or something else?

I may have missed the boat on this topic, but I’ll give my thoughts. I’ve tried most of the ones you mentioned and owned the Explorer 8x32 a while back. You’ll be happy with the bang-for-your-buck you get out of the Explorer. Probably the best value out of them all in my opinion. But I’ll...

Seeking advice - lightweight bino in the £150 range

That's a good point you brought up - I don't use glasses, So I can't speak to how well the old model works with them. So I suppose take my experience with the prostaff 7s with a grain of salt 😅

Seeking advice - lightweight bino in the £150 range

I would suggest the nikon prostaff 7s 8x30. Its ease of use for beginners makes this a stand out in the budget 8x30 category. The reason for this is because budget 8x30s tend to have blackout issues. You eventually get used to them and work around them but for someone's first time using them -...
