    Destrucion of birds nests - can anything be done

    craig thks for the good website. They did not actually destroy the nest in this case - just disturbed the female kestrel to the point that she gave up sitting. Unfortunately, a kestrel is not a Schedule 1 bird. regards

For obvious reasons they need to trim trees and hedges close to these lines but for some unknown reason they seem to be very active in May, the height of the breeding season.     tawny box and cameras

    Has anyone had any experience in setting up a wireless camera/CCTV in a tunnel shaped tawny box? Would love to have a go but can't quite see how the camera would fit! thanks Lea

    Tawny Owls and nestboxes

    If going for a tawny box, go for the barrelled shape tunnel version (8x8x30ins). The most important thing is to get the angle right. It must be quite steep. Certainly less than 45 degrees to the vertical and probably nearer 15-20. I have had success this year. The good thing about young tawnies...
