Destrucion of birds nests - can anything be done

craig thks for the good website. They did not actually destroy the nest in this case - just disturbed the female kestrel to the point that she gave up sitting. Unfortunately, a kestrel is not a Schedule 1 bird. regards

Destrucion of birds nests - can anything be done

For obvious reasons they need to trim trees and hedges close to these lines but for some unknown reason they seem to be very active in May, the height of the breeding season. The result is disturbance of nesting birds and...

Certainly less than 45 degrees to the vertical and probably nearer 15-20. I have had success this year. The good thing about young tawnies...

    Can't kestrels read

Put up some barn owl boxes but instead have just got this lovely pair of kestrels. Photo not brilliant but taken from my sitting room through the window using a hand-held FinePix looking through an Opticrom classic 1F! Kestrels were about 120 yds away. They are being harassed a bit by jackdaws...

    Scope eyepieces

I was looking at buying a top-end scope, probably the Swar ATS80HD, when I had the opportunity of looking through the 20xw eyepiece of the Leica Apo-Televid 77. What struck me, in comparison with most other scopes, was the lens width of the eyepiece which was very large and made viewing very...
