Kowa BD II XD 8x42 vs. Verano BGA VHD 8x42

Kowa BD II XD 8x42 vs. Verano BGA VHD 8x42 To answer your original question, the Opticron Verano BGA VHD is better than the Kowa BD II XD. The Kowa has more pleasing aesthetics, and their handling is ergonomically equal, however, the Verano is optically superior.

Which Opticron binoculars focus clockwise to infinity?

Point taken, however, the discussion centres around the direction the focus wheel turns, i.e. clockwise or anticlockwise, not infinity. You’re welcome, for what it’s worth, they’re both excellent. However, I sold my Travellers for the Veranos, it was the quality of the finish and view that...

Which Opticron binoculars focus clockwise to infinity?

I experienced exactly the same dilemma as yourself with the Opticron Imagic BGA VHD, I believe some people are able to adjust, I couldn’t. I currently own 3 pairs of Opticron Verano BGA VHD, they all focus clockwise to infinity and are a dream to handle.

    Deciding between 8x32's

Yes, they are both excellent and neither will disappoint. I sold my Traveller for the 8x32 Verano, and was so impressed I bought the 8x42 and 10x42 Veranos. Unusually for me, having long preferred 8x32 binoculars for the best part of 30 years, I prefer the full size 8 and 10x42 Veranos, with the...

Anyone used DBA VHD+ from Opticron

Yes, I chose the Imagic BGA VHD over the DBA VHD+ as they felt more immersive and the ergonomics fit my face and hands better, however, I didn’t get on with the anti-clockwise focus. Thankfully the Verano BGA VHD has clockwise focus, a microhinge and great ergonomics. I own the 8x32, 8x42 and...

Kowa BD II XD 10x42 First Impressions then birder Review

Has anyone done any comparisons between the BD II 8x42 and 10x42? I understand the 10x42 has an impressive 7.2 degrees FOV which whilst not as wide as the 8.2 degrees offered by the BD II 8x42, it is impressive compared to other mid range competitors and I was curious if it felt a little more...

New Binocular Day. Kowa BD II XD 8x42

I've just come back from a reputable optics retailer where I had the opportunity to test the Kowa BDII 8x42 XD in inclement weather and contrary to what I was expecting after reading some less than favourable reviews, they not only exceeded my expectations, I preferred them over similarly priced...

Kowa Genesis XD 8x33 or Kowa BD II 8x42 XD?

Have you compared the best Kowa (Genesis Prominar XD) side by side against the best Leica (Noctivid), Swarovski (NL Pure & EL) and Zeiss (Victory SF)?

No I didn't, as previously stated, "I didn't get on with their size and weight in real terms use, and consequently I had to reluctantly return them."

Have you compared the best Kowa (Genesis Prominar XD) side by side against the best Leica (Noctivid), Swarovski (NL Pure & EL) and Zeiss (Victory SF)?

Really, what do you guess the deaf eyes tells a lot? I never said, "The Leica Ultravid from 15yrs ago comparing to a new Genesis." I said, after having used Leica for 15yrs, I stopped using them after comparing my Leica Ultravid 8x42 HD side by side with my Kowa Genesis 8.5x44. I never owned...

Have you compared the best Kowa (Genesis Prominar XD) side by side against the best Leica (Noctivid), Swarovski (NL Pure & EL) and Zeiss (Victory SF)?

The 8.5x44 Genesis provided to my deaf eyes, the best, crisp, sharp and detailed image of any binocular I have ever looked through. It was so good when I compared it side by side with a Leica 8x42 Ultravid that I have never owned another Leica ever since, after using them for approximately...

Kowa Genesis XD 8x33 or Kowa BD II 8x42 XD?

As a former owner of several mid level (Opticron Imagic 8x42 and Traveller 8x32) and alpha (Kowa Genesis 8x44 and Swarovski Field Pro 8x32) binoculars, I understand the difference between the two. However, if you were given the choice to own a Kowa Genesis XD 8x33 or Kowa BD II 8x42 XD, which...

R7 for bird photography and birds in flight

Apologies, I stand corrected, I still like the camera.

R7 for bird photography and birds in flight

As an ex 7D Mk2 owner I naturally took an analytical interest in the 7R and decided to avoid it like the plague. I like the R6 Mk2 (crop sensor) and especially the R5 (full frame), however, I don't rate the RF 100-500 lens, the issue of having to have the lens extended with a TC attached and the...

Nikon Monarch HG 8x42 vs Zeiss SFL 8x40

If anyone has any experience of comparing the Nikon Monarch HG 8x42 vs Zeiss SFL 8x40 I would be interested to know their thoughts prior to testing them out myself. My main concerns are a full size quality lightweight binocular as I carry heavy camera gear and these 2 appear very similar on...
