    Unknown call, Ochil Hills, Scotland

It gave me thrush vibes too, and the voume would support that. Just doesn't sound like any thrush I know!

    Unknown call, Ochil Hills, Scotland

Definitely not a bullfinch, far too loud and carrying.

    Unknown call, Ochil Hills, Scotland

Hello Odd call I couldnt identiry yesterday morning while in the Ochil Hills. Calling from a dense conifer plantation about 200+m away. It's the plaintive call in the background behind the noise of the burn and the jays. Apologies for the terrible recording but taken on my phone.

    Nepal, warbler and hawk

That sounds very comprehensive and knowledgable so I shall happily accept your opinion! Thanks.

    Nepal, warbler and hawk

Hello A couple that I got stuck on on Nepal over the last two weeks: First a crown striped Phyllosc seen in the Langtang valley at around 3200m. Most of these types I gave up on but managed to get half decent photos of this one but still can't narrow it down to a species! Second a hawk seen up...

    Lake Mburo National Park Uganda

Having looked at it again on a bigger screen I agree. Looks more finchlike.

    Buzzard, Ngorgoro Crater, 3rd August

There was an augur buzzard flying nearby and I'm pretty certain this wasn't one. This bird had longer, narrower wings and the profile was nothing like the augur. I also can't find any descriptions or photos showing immature augurs with white primary patches like in this bird. I know both...

    Cisticolas, Tanzania

A few cisticolas from Tanzania which have been rather tricky to ID. 1. I’m certain this is winding 2. Rattling? 3 & 4. Different bird from 2 but also rattling though it does appear slimmer. 5 & 6. Croaking? All in the Serengeti except the first which was Arusha NP.

    Buzzard, Ngorgoro Crater, 3rd August

Distant shots of a buzzard over the Ngorogoro Crater. Seems to be either Steppe or Long-legged. I've had one person say Steppe buzzard due to the band on the tail. I'm not entirely convinced as I feel the primary patches are too distinct for Steppe and lean more towards Long-legged. I'd welcome...

    Odd gull, Portugal, October 2021

The iris is barely, if at all, lighter than the bird to the left of it, and considerably darker than the adult in front with which it should by that age share eye colour with. The other photos show it just as dark as they are showing true to what I saw! However, happy to accept it as an odd 3rd...

    Odd gull, Portugal, October 2021

It's the eye that made me look at it again. None of the other similarly plumaged birds had dark eyes nor have I found any such birds in photos online.

    Odd gull, Portugal, October 2021

Hello I saw this gull on 16th October at the Lagoa de Albufeira, just south of Lisbon. There were lots of lesser black-backed gulls an a few yellow-legged gulls. This bird stood out as initially looking like a 3rd winter LBBG but seemed too clean around the head, a bit too dark on the back, as...

    Warbler, Mudumalai NP, India

Booted is what I had half suspected, happy to go with that. Thank you!

    Warbler, Mudumalai NP, India

I'm happy to admit that I am useless at warblers and often simply ignore them but I managed to get a photo of this one attempting to swallow a caterpillar or maggot. I'd be grateful if anyone could help me out with identification of it (the warbler not the maggot!). Mudumalai National Park on...
