Thrush ID please - Koblenz of Germany

Thanks for clarification, ChrisKten. From now on, I am more confident pointing to a juvenile Blackbird and say "I am certain it is a male" ...... since nobody can be sure :)

    ID please ... Geneva, Switzerland

Got it, Mike. I looked up my local birding guide again and found that migrating common starling did visit HK but they are no longer "common" here. Thanks again.

Thrush ID please - Koblenz of Germany

Thanks, ChrisKten and scodger. Judging by your descriptions, shall I imagine that the bird will become wholly black when mature? And will its beak turn yellow then?

    65 vs 80

I own a 65 but regret not to have a 80 in the first place when I go digiscoping. The price difference was 250 pounds 4 years ago but widens to 500 pounds now :(

Is the 2001 version having 900+ pages? Half that number is still at 400+. May need some weight training before bringing it out to the field ;)

Which is better warbler field guide?

I have only one Warbler reference, the Warbler of Europe, Asia and North Africa by Kevin Baker (Helm ID Guides). I am a newbie in Warbler. Can anyone comment on the relative quality of this book? Thanks.

    Birds Of Prey/raptor Book.

I am not sure if you want a field guide or a reference. I just came across this 900+ page mini-encyclopedia. You may want to check it out. I am not "recommending" this book yet as it has not arrived at this point in time. Raptors of the World [Hardcover] by Ferguson-Lees, James
