Best pocket camera for digiscoping without adaptor?? Advice please!

Canon S90 I'm a very happy user of the S90. I still need more field expirience with it, but the basic testing looks great. I do not use anyadapter, I simply hold the camera against the scope (Pentax PF-80 ED), I used to do the same for many years now with the Canon A95 and Nikon 8400, so far...

    Gull - Confirmation please

Thanks, but Thanks Lou. While I agree that this is not an Audouin's, the example you posted is from April, when adult like scapulars are starting to replace the juv ones. Are you familiar with any images available on the network of 1st winter birds from December/January showing the same pattern ?

    Gull - Confirmation please

Thanks, But I'm still confused I could not find any reference suggesting that Audouin's, in it's first winter is showing an all dark bill, more over, litreture suggests two tone bill. As in: http://www.birdingalbufera.es/files/u3/Larus_audouinii.jpg The small size is compared to Pallas's gull...

    Gull - Confirmation please

All, I can't figure out why this bird would be an Audouin's Gull: http://www.israbirding.com/israelbirdsforum/forum_entry.php?id=1266 Audouin's Gull is a rarity in Israel with less than annual record. This bird (the 1st winter sitting on the ground) seems to lightly marked and too much...

Comment by 'RedBishop' in media 'Arabian Lark'

There were few back in 2000 and in 2003, but this one was found at a very good timing with many birders around who managed to catch up with this species.

    Gotcha......I think !

There are actually 3 different birds here. 1 & 2 same bird, 3 is different bird, and 4-5 same bird (coal). Note that 1 & 2 are ringed while 3 isn't. Just get the ring number and you are set with the ID..

    Israeli Calidrid

The bird was caught and ringed... It's a Little Stint with far too much oil on it....

    Pied or Black-eared Wheatear ?

Thank you all for the interesting pointers. I would like to add another point to Mike Johnston comment. I've just read in the 'Birds of Israel' by Shirihai that he had found a population in Turkey with BE Wheatears that Juveniles and Females of this population looked (in the field) EXACTLY the...

    Pied or Black-eared Wheatear ?

My sincere Apologies. I did not notice there are two wheatears in the link I sent. The question is regardoing the first two images of a black-eared/pied female type bird. The Male bird is undoubtfully a Hooded Wheatear. The image was taken at Eilat just few days ago. Status wise, Pieds are...

Going "retro" with the Nikon Coolpix 8400

Fantastic ! Neil, I've been following your inspiring threads about the different cameras with great joy. Even though you liked the F30 very much, I always felt the image out of the camera is not in the same league as in the A95, CP4500 or the Oly7070. The 8400 easily gets into this list (and...
