    What brand is the best?

Meester Pronko, You bring too much politics to this forum, sir. I read it for the binocular information, but I have to put up with the politics. It's not pleasant when a different opinion is given, is it?

    What brand is the best?

A president mispronouncing a word isn’t particularly bad; it happens to everybody. Many of our words’ spelling break traditional pronunciation guidelines. But when a word is pronounced they way it’s spelled, and is still mispronounced, it’s a case of not knowing the word … like “corpse-man”...

    "I wish I hadn't sold my ..." ???

And at least twice, no less. One time, sold to me. I sold it back to you, at the same price, when you asked for it back. ;)

    ED glass usage in PORROS

Brock no longer has this one? Was it a poor performer, even with the ED glass?

    Celestron PRO binoculars

The "PRO" line was priced lower than the Ultima's.

    Swift 804 Eye Relief Spec

14 mm, from my memory. I'm pretty sure that that Elkcub knows and can correct me. Edit: I just checked the first thread in this Swift section, "Historical Review ... ", and one of post 15's pdf files lists the ER for the Audubon of that period as 14 mm.

    Question regarding Jena 7x50

I wish I could post photos, but I'm blocked from where I'm accessing. Sorry. I think you can find some photos through Google's Images section.

    Question regarding Jena 7x50

The forum members' posts seem right-on. I own a number of WWII-era American binoculars, as I'm sure some of them do as well, and I'd like to add that the binocular might be an army M17 binocular, as the eye cups have a deep and smoothly rounded profile (not the later M17A1, which has more...

    Introduction

There is a thread in the Swift section that discusses the specifications of the Osprey: http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=39112 But it is limited mostly to the specifications. My guess is that it was sold during the late 80's or early 90's. Price, I don't know. Sorry.

    Leupold # 61400 or # 62800 ???

62800 is the current, HD model; whereas 61400 is the previous, non-HD model.

New guy with a few questions

From the photos, it looks to me like a Night Owl in the Design Select series, sold during the mid- to late-90s. I have a 7x45 model. As far a value, it's hard to say. I have the impression that the Night Owl series is not as highly regarded as they used to be, as a few generations have been...

    10x or 8x

"Are shakes more noticeable with a 10x versus and 8x?" Yes, this is true for the vast majority of people, so much so that most experienced users recommend 8x, especially if the buyer can buy only one binocular.

    B&L Autubon 10X40s ?

It, known better as the Custom 10x40, had an excellent reputation when they were sold. The only negative aspect that was usually brought up was its narrow field of view. I looked through one years ago and thought it had an excellent view.

    help me choose : 7x35 B&L

Probably, but it would take someone who has authoritative information to say. I was going to say 'yes', but I thought I'd better check. I pulled out one of my Zephyrs and looked. Based on its round, untruncated exit pupils, I'd say they indicate BaK-4 prisms, rather than BK-7 prisms. Also...

    help me choose : 7x35 B&L

Yes, the Legacy has a wider FOV than that of the Zephyr. Sorry about my typing error. I don't have the specifications, but I recall that the 7x35 Legacy's is over 400 feet at 1,000 yards (maybe 420-430 feet), whereas the 7x35 Zephyr's is around 367-375 feet, if my memory is correct. If the...
