    Our garden has been taken over by Redpolls since I put the nyger feeders up.. the most I have counted are 32 a couple of days ago!

    I have studied my RSPB book....! It is tricky ..red foreheads, some with very bright red breasts, some larger birds some smaller, so I did wonder if there were a couple of varieties there...will see if I can post a rather bad picture somewhere of a few on a feeder.     nyger seed out one day golfinches the next!

    I put a couple up this winter, it took a while for the birds to realise it was there..suddenly gold finches..greenfinches, and more recently first one Redpoll then 2 , and now a big flock..yesterday morning I counted 32 redpolls! Couldnt believe it!-+

    Im a very new birdwatcher...got hooked on the RSPB Great Garden Birdwatch this winter... suddenly realised that all those little brown jobs that I was seeing were not all sparrows... and just discovering a new world! Its so exciting...I have seen a Gold crest and a Firecrest in my garden this...
