Distribution
South America: found in the Andes of south-eastern Peru (Ayacucho, Puno) to southern Bolivia (Chuquisaca).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Has been considered conspecific with White-crowned Tapaculo in the past.
Habitat
Moist montanes.
