Identification

15–16 cm

  • Greyish-brown upper parts
  • Small pointed bill

Distribution

South America: found in the Andes of Bolivia and adjacent north-western Argentina (Jujuy).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Montane scrub.

Behaviour

Diet

They forage under dense shrubbery, singly or in pairs and occasionally with other finches. It is thought they eat insects and seeds.
