Identification
9·5–10 cm (3¾-4 in)
- Brown crown and upperparts
- Long buffish supercilium
- Long black eyestripe
- Orangey-buff cheeks and ear-coverts
- White underparts
- Blackish breast sides and flanks
- Belly may be buffish
Sexes similar. No information on juvenile
Distribution
South-east Asia found in the mountains of northern Borneo (Kinabalu to Liang Kubung).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Montane forests where they are usually to be found on the ground and in the undergrowth. There are generally seen at altitudes of 800-3150 m.
Behaviour
Diet
There main diet consists of invertebrates, particularly green aphids, but little other detail is known.
Breeding
The only nest recorded was constructed from plant fibres and placed low on a mossy bank.
