Distribution
Africa: found in southwestern Angola to Namibia, Botswana and South Africa.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Subspecies theresae is generally considered invalid[2].
Habitat
Dry open country, preferably semi-desert, short grasslands and burnt veld.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes insects, beetles, weevils, ants and seeds.
Breeding
The 2 blackish eggs are laid directly onto bare ground.
