Identification
11 cm. Male has iridescent dark green upperparts, iridescent copper-red ear-coverts, pale orange-rufous throat and upper-breast and yellow belly. Female can be distinguished from other sunbirds by its greenish-olive upperparts, pale orange-rufous throat and upper-breast and yellow belly.
Distribution
Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Taxonomy
This species was recently split from the genus Anthreptes and been placed in the monotypic genus Chalcoparia.

Habitat
Moist lowland forests, mangroves and montanes.
Behaviour
Frequents the canopy and middle storey.
