Identification
~11 cm
Upperparts are olive, on wings accented by yellow edges on especially secondaries and coverts. Underside mostly pale grey with whitish throat, yellowish flanks and yellow undertail. Face has a black eye-line bordered below and especially above with yellow, where the supraloral continues around the front.
Distribution
South-western Colombia (Nariño) and western Ecuador (south to south-western Guayas).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.[1]
Choco Tyrannulet has been split from Golden-faced Tyrannulet.[1][2][3]
Habitat
Humid, wet, or cloud forests and adjacent clearings at low to mid elevation in mountains (near sea level to around 1500 m asl).
Behaviour
Feeds alone, in pairs, or with mixed species flocks. Often perching at conspicuous branches. Food includes smaller invertebrates, berries and fruit.
