Endemic to Mexico.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- T. c. citreolus:
- Pacific slope of western Mexico (Sinaloa to western Oaxaca)
- T. c. sumichrasti:
- Pacific slope of southern Mexico (central Oaxaca to Chiapas)
Habitat
Subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and heavily degraded former forest.
Behaviour
Breeding
It builds its nest cavities in arboreal termitaria.
Diet
The diet includes caterpillars, flies, arthropods, and fruit.
